Where bushbabies drop their babies.....

I was reading books in the meeting room when a tiny bushbaby suddenly fell onto the table right in front of me. Seconds after its mother picked it up another baby fell and the mother had to come down again. I am afraid this lineage of bushbabies might be naturally selected out of existence. Taken at the University of the Witwatersrand Wits Rural Facility during the second stop of the OTS South Africa abroad program. Filmed with Canon PowerShot S3 IS in February 2009 and edited with Apple iMovie '09 on an Apple Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 gHz iMac.

Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa, Japan

During a break from a conference in Okinawa during 2009, we visited the famous Churaumi Aquarium (沖縄美ら海水族館). Watching the three whale sharks in the main tank swim by was an amazing experience. We also took a behind the scenes tour of the facility, and learned about the tremendous work needed to maintain a comfortable environment for these incredible creatures. Unfortunately, I have recently learned that whale sharks don't live well in captivity, and are inappropriate to keep in an aquarium. Filmed with a Nikon D90 (Nikkor 18-200 mm VR lens) in June 2009 and edited with Apple iMovie '09 on an Apple Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 gHz iMac.
